Best Valentine’s Dishes to Share at Boston Pizza

Reading Time:  5 minutes -

A fun Valentine’s activity is to take your special someone out to eat. Sharing lunch or dinner together, sitting across from one another with delicious food and drink, is perhaps one of the nicest ways to spend time together.

This article is for you if you’re organizing that first Valentine’s date with someone you’ve been longing to meet or just a nice night out with your long-term partner. We recommend dining at Boston Pizza Clifton Hill for a cuisine that has something for everyone, situated in a warm and lively environment. Believe it or not, what we choose when we go out to eat tells a lot about our personalities, so why not choose to show that you’re laid-back and generous by ordering something to share?

Appetizers Made For Sharing

To stimulate your appetites and get the conversation flowing, order an appetizer or two that’s been created for sharing. Be careful, the dishes are delicious and you will be tempted to save it all for yourself but to impress your date, try your best to share.

Thai Bites

You and your date can choose between a choice of shrimp or chicken tossed in sweet Thai chili sauce and served with crunchy Asian noodles, carrots, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Bandera Pizza Bread

When the main meal options are so plentiful like they are at Boston Pizza, you may just consider a meal inspired starter. The Bandera Pizza bread is made for two. Baked with traditional pizza bread and spiced with Italian herbs and fresh mozzarella and parmesan, this dish is hard to resist. This starter is served with a Santa Fe Ranch dip, but you can always add another dip like extra pizza sauce or a Creamy Garlic dip.

BP’s Classic Nacho’s

Our classic nachos are one of our most popular dishes, and it’s no surprise. This generous serving of hand-cut tortilla chips are topped with cheddar, pizza mozzarella, green peppers, black olives, jalapeño peppers, tomatoes and green onions. For extra tastiness, the nachos are served with salsa made with fresh tomatoes, sour cream, plus your choice of protein like BBQ chicken, spicy chicken, or seasoned ground beef.

Meals To Share

Keeping your hands to yourself on a date is hard when you like the other person so much. But it becomes considerably harder when you’re dying to try a bite of their dish. Choose your mains together and ask for side plates so that you can share both dishes and maybe feed one another a bite or two.

Pizza and Pasta

We are forever grateful to the Italian’s for creating two of our favorite things: pizza and pasta. Our go-to pairings made for sharing are the Spicy Perogy with Jambalaya Fettuccini and the Meateor with Pesto Chicken Penne.

All our pizzas and pastas can be customized as well, you get to choose everything from your crust type to toppings and noodle type and sauce.

Salmon or Honey Dill Chicken Power Bowls

For healthier taste options bursting with flavor, our hearty Power Bowls are bursting with citrus notes and veggies cooked to perfection. Your protein of choice is cooked over a warm quinoa and rice blend. Popping with colour, the bowl features dark green spinach, bright cherry red tomatoes, guacamole, beets, carrots, cucumbers, and roasted peppers. Pair this bowl with our Pineapple Beet And Goat Cheese Salad that’s served with a balsamic dressing and topped with slivered almonds.

Desserts For Two

We have the perfect desserts in just the right portion size for date night to share. Always end a date on a sweet note. Did you know that research shows that ordering dessert can make you more attractive to the other person? So check out these two of our favorite picks:

Chocolate Explosion

A staple of Boston Pizza, you’ll need two forks for this one! Creamy chocolate mousse with chunks of cheesecake, caramel, toffee, pecans, and almonds on a chocolate crust.

Chocolate Brownie Addiction

Delectable warm chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauces.

Boston Pizza Clifton Hill

Located in the heart of Clifton Hill, Boston Pizza offers Canada’s best in casual dining and sports bar action. Our multifaceted entertainment complex is also adjacent to Niagara’s top bowling centre, Strike Game Zone, and the massive Great Canadian Midway!

Tips for the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade

Reading Time:  4 minutes -The Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade is officially set for Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at 11:00 am. The Parade is one of the largest free events in Niagara, with over 12,000 people attending last year’s parade alone. It will begin on Victoria Avenue at Armoury Street and continue to Queen Street, ending at Erie Avenue. Here is a map of the parade route courtesy of www.niagarafalls.ca:

Time is flying, and the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade will soon be underway. It’s sure to be a great family fun event to enjoy with your kids, but like any other big function, holiday or extravaganza, there is always added stress leading up to that point. If you have kids, you will agree with this statement. Will we get there in time? Will we find parking? Should I take a stroller in and out of large crowds? Here are a few tips to help you relax and enjoy every moment of the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade.
Directions:

From Toronto

  • Follow the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) to Niagara Falls, Canada.
  • Take Thorold Stone Road (east) which turns into Stanley Avenue
  • Turn left (east) on Bridge Street
  • Right onto Victoria Avenue
  • Left onto Park Street

From Rainbow Bridge

  • Follow Roberts St. (Hwy 420) to Stanley Avenue
  • Turn right (north) onto Stanley Avenue
  • Right onto Bridge Street
  • Right onto Victoria Avenue
  • Left onto Park Street

From the Peace Bridge

  • Follow the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) to Niagara Falls, Canada
  • Turn left (north) onto Stanley Avenue
  • Right onto Bridge Street
  • Right onto Victoria Avenue
  • Left onto Park Street

From the Queenston/Lewiston Bridge

  •  Follow Hwy 405 to Niagara Falls, Canada.
  • Take the Stanley Ave. exit
  • Turn right and follow to Thorold Stone Rd.
  • Turn left onto Thorold Stone Rd, which turns into Stanley Ave.
  • Turn left on Bridge Street
  • Then turn right onto Victoria Ave. (south)
  • From Victoria Avenue, turn left onto Park Street.

Tip#1: Leave Early
This one goes without saying. First of all, the parade falls on a Saturday. Saturday is always the busiest day in Niagara Falls. There will be road closures depending on which route you plan on taking, so be prepared for that (see map above). The formation of the floats and other parade preparations will begin at 9:00 am on Jepson and Armoury Street, so expect those roads to be closed at approximately 7:00 am. Also, if you plan on bringing a stroller, wagon or wheelchair, it’s best to get a spot situated early along the parade route to avoid struggling your way through a large crowd. Try to establish yourself close to an available washroom as well — think restaurants, port-a-potties, coffee shops, etc.
For a list of available parking lots during the Niagara Falls Santa Claus parade click here.
Tip#2: Dress For the Weather

*Pictured Above: Clothing for sale at the Canada Trading Company — 4950 Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls, ON.*
We all know that you can never rely fully on the weather and it can quickly turn around, so it’s best to be prepared. Dress warmly and make sure your children have their hats, gloves and warm Winter jackets handy. Bring blankets and don’t forget the weather protector for the stroller and bring umbrellas…just in case. Comfortable shoes are a must! If you forget any of these items, or have yet to purchase them, the Canada Trading Company on Clifton Hill has all the above items (and much more) just in, with many more items on their way just in time for the Niagara Falls Santa Claus parade.
Tip#3: Make Lunch Reservations!
Guaranteed, you will be starving after the parade, and if you won’t be, your kids will. And everyone will have the same idea. Either make reservations at nearby restaurants ahead of time, or be prepared for everyone trying to tumble into the same place at the same time. To avoid possibly being turned away, check out and research restaurants close to the parade route or within a few minutes away.
View a restaurant list of Queen Street restaurants and cafes by clicking here, or consider heading towards Clifton Hill and try the restaurants around the tourism district. They will be less busy and will be closer to Niagara Falls attractions and the festival if you wish to make a full afternoon of family fun. Boston Pizza Clifton Hill is a great choice for the whole family as it is a very large and accommodating Boston Pizza that also houses a massive arcade, the Great Canadian Midway, as well as Strike! Rock N Bowl — Niagara’s 25,000 square foot entertainment facility.

Tip#4: Bring Your Letters to Santa!

We all know Santa will be the grand finale to the parade, so why not get your kids super excited and have their wish list ready ahead of time? Remember, Santa’s address is:
Santa Claus, North Pole, HOH OHO, Canada.
They will get all jazzed up seeing Santa and experiencing the whole “Miracle of Christmas”…and they can even deliver them to him personally after the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade. There is a meet and greet with Santa outside City Hall afterwards from 12:45 pm to 2:30 pm in front of City Hall (4310 Queen Street, Niagara Falls).

Niagara Falls Family Dining: Why Boston Pizza Clifton Hill is Just Better

Reading Time:  4 minutes -

No doubt when you arrive in Niagara Falls there is no shortage of restaurants. How do you choose? Here are reasons why Niagara Falls family dining is just better at Boston Pizza Clifton Hill!

Location
It is right in the heart of Clifton Hill. Clifton Hill is a must-see when you have kids, and you can expect to spend a full day here. For that reason alone, you want to choose a Niagara Falls family dining experience within walking distance. This Boston Pizza has location on its side! Located on the south side of Clifton Hill it is central to the Niagara SkyWheel, Tim Hortons, the Great Canadian Midway, and the Dinosaur Adventure Golf. All of those locations are less than 50 feet away, with the Midway in the same building (on the lower floor).

 It’s FUN!!
If you are looking for a Niagara Falls family dining restaurant to disconnect and just eat, this isn’t the place! The fun continues here even while you eat. You are surrounded by video games to play as the Great Canadian Midway downstairs spits up more games upstairs. If you arrive during a busy time and you are given a pager to wait, you can do more with your time than simply “sit at the bar and wait”. Grab some tokens available at the various machines in the restaurant and play a game of air hockey, race some cars, or even play “Monster Claw” if you are feeling less adventurous and just want to win a teddy bear.
If playing games isn’t for you, just take in the exciting scenery. Wide windows to watch all the action outside surrounds the restaurant, and there are plenty of wide-screen tv’s playing all the sports action games and highlights. The atmosphere can’t be beat!

Where else can you eat and bowl??
https://youtu.be/_HgGy67UIKg

Boston Pizza Clifton Hill and Strike! Rock N Bowl are one and the same! You have 3 options: Bowl before you dine, Bowl while you dine, or bowl after you dine. Located inside this restaurant, but away from the family “sit down” dining, is 14 full-lane bowling lanes, plus eight billiard tables. The bowling welcomes all ages — they offer ramps for the little ones and “bumpers” can be programmed to rise when a toddler plays, and automatically descend when an adult is up to bowl.
When you get hungry or thirsty you simply order from a full Boston Pizza food and bar menu, and a server will bring food right to your bowling table. This Boston Pizza includes two bars — one located in the dining area itself, and the other on the bowling side, for your convenience.

 The Food
While gourmet pizza is Boston Pizza’s claim to fame, you’ll find more than 100 delicious menu items perfect for lunch, dinner or anything in between. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy here; including a gluten-free menu, light options, and a delicious and inexpensive kid’s meal menu.

 Birthday Party Packages available
No doubt because of all the factors listed above, Boston Pizza Clifton Hill is the perfect place to pool everything together to create the perfect birthday party package for your little one. The restaurant has teamed up with the Great Canadian Midway and Strike! Rock N Bowl to put together party packages your child will have a blast with, such as the Kids Deluxe Party Package and the Kids Ultimate Party Package.

Doc Magilligan’s Irish Pub Open for Business!

Reading Time:  3 minutes -Since 1965, the Cairn Croft or “the Croft” as it became to be known as, located inside the Best Western Plus Cairn Croft Hotel on Lundy’s Lane was a gathering place for the over 30 crowd in Niagara Falls. It was the place to go for locals and regulars to relax, have a drink, play pool, and maybe even engage in a little karaoke in a laid-back adult setting. As one of Niagara Fall’s oldest hotel bars, it had already established itself as staple to the tourist laden street of Lundy’s Lane, and drew in both familiar faces and new customers every day. Now, almost exactly a month from its opening date, the all-new Doc Magilligan’s Irish Pub has replaced the Cairn Croft in order to revamp the setting into something else entirely.
Lisa Smith, the Director of Marketing and Sales at the Best Western Plus Cairn Croft Hotel told the Niagara Falls Review that “We appreciate all the loyal customers that we’ve had over the years, but we felt that we needed to expand and get something fresh and new to get a more all-around clientele”.
And renovate they did! The decor is completely unrecognizable with its Irish flair (built entirely in Ireland and shipped to Niagara Falls). Doc Magilligan’s is still owned by Cairn Croft brothers Len and Fred Cade, so some things remain the same — but that’s where the similarities end. Fred’s wife, Maureen Cade, is the inspiration behind the new namesake. Maureen’s great great grandfather, “Doc Magilligan” was a beloved Irish doctor known both for his nurturing care and his fun-loving attitude at the local pubs around town. It was fitting to honor his name through this new establishment.

*Pictured Above: Doc Magilligan’s Exterior. 6400 Lundy’s Lane, Niagara Falls,ON.*
The General Manager of Doc Magilligan’s, Leo O’Toole, has 27 years of experience in the restaurant and pub business behind his belt. And yes, with a last name of “O’Toole”, you best believe that he is authentically Irish! Leo is originally from Dublin, so he had a huge hand in crafting Doc Magilligan’s into the gorgeous Irish-infused restaurant it has transpired into.
“The bookshelves, the panels on the walls and the full bar were all made in Ireland, shipped over in three containers and then installed and put together here, including all the furniture” O’Toole stated.

*Pictured Above: The interior of Doc Magilligan’s. Crisp, clean and authentically Irish!*
The restaurant is 5,500 square feet and everything from the moment you step inside is Irish. Not only the decor, but the full food and drink menu is also Irish-inspired. While local brews and Niagara wines will also be readily available, you can expect to see Guinness, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny and Harp on tap and some good ol’ fashioned British food like “Shepherd’s Pie” and “Banger’s and Mash” for starters!
Corporate parties and groups are welcome at Doc Magilligan’s with seating for 270 and a capacity for 300 patrons. In addition, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as Sunday afternoons, there is always live entertainment!
O’Toole mentioned that he wants everyone that walks through the doors to feel like they are at home. Where locals know each others names and new faces are served with a smile — so be sure to welcome Doc Magilligan’s as the newest addition to the Niagara Falls restaurant and nightlife scene.
