Reading Time: 5minutes -Niagara is known for its historic significance (Old Fort Erie, Battle of Lundy’s Lane, etc.), and with these stories of both horror and heroism, comes ghost stories. Here is a list of places throughout Niagara to tour this time of year that are said to be haunted.
Niagara-on-the-Lake is known as Canada’s most haunted town. This tour will take you to a variety of locations, such as the “angry ghost of a murdered soul inside the Angel Inn”, stopping on the shores of Lake Ontario for a violent and ancient legend, and “the house that makes cameras go crazy”.
It will also stop at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Courthouse, Prince of Wales Hotel, Apothecary, Royal George Theatre, and much more.
Walks are 7 days a week nightly at 8:00 pm during the month of October, and every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm in November and December.
Prices: $15 for Adults, $5 for Children 13 and under, and Seniors aged 60+ are $10.
Ghost Tours of Niagara is the longest-running ghost walk in the Niagara Region. Candlelight ghost tours of Fort George are offered throughout the Spring and Summer (May to September), but there are special Halloween ghost tours offered throughout October that highlights the scariest parts of the haunted Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is a 2-hour walking tour that includes stories too frightening to be told on the Summer tours, and opens a building (the Officers’ Quarters) that is usually off-limits during the usual ghost tours.

Niagara Ghost Walks will take you through the spookiest streets in Downtown Niagara Falls. Your tour guide will share its tales of crime and murder. Stories such as Niagara’s mob wars and the exact spot where Freddy Tedesco was murdered, feel the negative energy within Niagara’s Haunted Rooming House and hear the story of the murdered soul that is said to still occupy it, plus find out why Blythewood Manor (bed & breakfast) has had paranormal investigators confirm the presence of spirits.
This tour starts at Old Crow Bar & Bistro at 4337 Queen Street, Niagara Falls.
Prices: $15 for Adults and $7 for Children 13 and under. Tour times begin at 8:45 pm Wednesday – Saturday.

Head to Old Fort Erie on October 21st, 27th, and 28th at 7:30 pm, 7:45 pm, 8:00 pm for an evening of spooky tales at the spot of Canada’s bloodiest battlefield. It’s the prime setting for hair-raising stories that took place here many years ago…you may even see a ghost or two as they have been known to frequent the premises….
The evening ends with refreshments and the annual burning of a Guy Fawkes effigy at 8:30 pm.
When the tour concludes, you are invited to stick around and watch a classic Halloween movie in their theatre. Admission is free with a purchase of an All Hallows’ Eve ticket. They will be showing “Shaun of the Dead” (2004) (Rated R) on October 21, “Addams Family Values” (1993) (Rated PG-13) on October 27, and “ParaNorman” (2012) (Rated PG-13) on October 28. Movies start at 9 p.m.

Let a costumed guide tell the story of drama and intrigue as you wander the grounds and happen upon theatrical performances that provide a glimpse of the lives of some of the people from the history of the city that are buried within the Drummond Hill Cemetery.
Dates are Friday & Saturday (Oct 20th and 21st), and Friday & Saturday (27th and 28th) and lasts for approximately 1 hour.
The Drummond Hill Cemetery is located at 6110 Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls. It is a nationally recognized heritage site most famously known as the battle grounds of the “Battle of Lundy’s Lane”, as well as the burial site of Laura Secord.
This is a popular St. Catharines Downtown ghost walk which explores the history and haunted tales of the downtown core. These guided tours will tell the haunted tales of the past and present, while also sharing historical commentary about the unique buildings and happenings. Walks are 75 minutes in length and all Ghost Walks depart from the King Street doors of Market Square (91 King Street).

Reading Time: 4minutes -Halloween is next week and I’m sure there are those of us left scrambling to find Halloween costume ideas for kids that are cute and engaging, but also don’t cost a fortune. Let’s be honest, Halloween is just as exciting for us as it is for our children. We want to take pictures of our kids in their creative costumes, so we want them to look great — and in some cases, we don’t want to pay a fortune because chances are they will only being wearing the costume once.
It is because of this that I have decided to compile some links to some of the most creative Halloween costume ideas for kids that I could find, with most costing very little and are unique enough that you can craft them at home yourself. Where to begin? Bring the entire family to Howell’s Family Pumpkin Farm located at 2878 Holland Rd., in Fonthill. Wagon rides, a corn maze, rubber ducky races, a haunted spooky barn, zombie graveyard, haystack jumping, viewing an animal farm and of course pumpkin picking are just some of the things to do at Howell’s! Located at 9387 Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls at Campark, Haunt Manor is NOT recommended for children under the age of 8, so keep little Johnny at home for this one. Through the Battle of 1812, this legitimately haunted house was inhabited by the Pew family. The house is over 200 years old and when the family mysteriously disappeared several years after the war, sightings of paranormal activity became rampant at this address. Today, a series of haunted houses and hayrides are offered on this property and was voted #1 in Ontario for the best haunted attraction and hayride facility. There are 9 frightening attractions and its open weekends until November 1st. Hours are 7pm-11pm and Sunday’s 7-10pm. Fort George Ghost Tours
Niagara-on-the-Lake is commonly referred to as the most haunted town in Canada due to its history and battles on the land. The most prevalent tales of paranormal activity surround Fort George. There have been hundreds of reports of ghost sightings here ranging from the benevolent spirit of a little girl named Sarah Ann to a more ominous presence simply known as “The Watcher”. The Fort George Ghost Tours is the longest-running ghost walk in the Niagara Region. Candlelight ghost tours of Fort George are offered on October 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 30th and 31st. The tours start at 7:00, 7:15 and 7:30pm and resume at 10:00, 10:15 and 10:30pm. Okay, back to kid-friendly Niagara Falls Halloween events LOL! Warner Ranch and Pumpkin Farm offers pumpkins of every shape and size as well as corn stalks, apples, squash and Indian corn to complete your Fall and Halloween decorating needs. They are open daily from 8:00am to 8:00pm and it is FREE to enter. For the kiddies, there is a petting zoo, pony rides and a corn maze for $2 each. Belgian horse-drawn hay rides are also available on weekends only, from 10:00am to 4:00pm for $2 as well. Not recommended for younger children, there is also a haunted hayride held October 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th with the first ride going out at 7:00 pm with the last ride departing at 10:45 pm.
Of course, you can head to Clifton Hill year-round for a good fright! Haunted houses such as the House of Frankenstein, Dracula’s Haunted Castle, the Haunted House, Screamers Niagara and the immensely popular Nightmares Fear Factory are all good fun and are all located right in the heart of the tourism district on Clifton Hill and Victoria Avenue.
Kids and adults will both love the Ghostblasters Dark Ride located in the Great Canadian Midway, where you head through a black-lit haunted hotel in a car on a track. Play against an opponent with laser guns and shoot ghosts and targets for bragging rights and a “spooky” good time! Upgrade to the Clifton Hill Fun Pass and get an additional 4 attractions on Clifton Hill plus tokens for the arcade at half the retail value!
