One of the Most Entertaining Webcams in the World is here in Niagara Falls!

There is something to be said about capturing a picture of one of the greatest Wonders of the World and actually standing face-to-face in all its glory. By the 19th century, Niagara Falls became a prime tourist destination for visitors from both sides of the border and rightfully so…you have the ability to view three waterfalls at one time. The Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls. The view is gorgeous at any time of the year; the thundering waters in the Spring and Summer, the colourful vegetation surrounding the River in the Fall and the ice bridge in the Winter, sparkling like diamonds in the Sun.

Until recently, unless you lived in the Niagara Region or vacationed here, you could only experience the Falls from photos or clips from a television show. I had relatives from the other side of the continent just itching to travel out here and scratch seeing the Niagara Falls off their bucket list. Guess what? They just did. Of course, nothing beats standing a couple hundred metres away from them, but the next best thing is a new webcam generating a lot of interest in the tourism industry…the Niagara Falls webcam! This Niagara Falls camera, provided by the Fallsview Casino is located high above Niagara Falls in the Fallsview District and is pointed directly towards the massive Horseshoe Falls on the Ontario, Canada side.

Located on the Niagara River, from Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the Niagara Falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the World. It stretches 167 feet high and more than six million cubic feet of water falls over the crest line every minute in high flow and four million on average.

What I really enjoy about the Niagara Falls webcam is that I don’t have to fight through crowds to get a prime view and if the weather is particularly bad that day, I always have a perfect view from the comfort of my own home. The evenings have a colourful light show illuminating the Falls as well, so you can experience both day and night transitions.

The webcam may not replace actually visiting the Niagara Falls itself, but it’s about as close as the next best thing you can get. Happy viewing!
